What is Radical ReEnchantment?

1. Tìr agus Anam Fite Fuaite gu Bràth.

Radical ReEnchantment, at it’s root, is reuniting Land + Spirit into the indivisible wholeness that is. “Radical” means ‘root’, and ReEnchantment is healing the root of the first separation; that some how we believed that all of this existence is separate bits of stuff and the unifying, underlying binding whole exists somewhere else, away, only accessible after death, after we leave the physical world.

We make reality.

We bring the Presence of Spirit alive right here, right now - or we separate ourselves from our loved ones in Spirit. We choose this with the power of our belief.

Somehow we believed that Spirit, the “dead”, the Unseen are disconnected and unavailable to us here. That’s not what’s real.

Tìr agus Anam fite fuaite gu bràth is what’s real. Manito Aki Inakonigaawin is what’s real. Land + Spirit are woven and sewn together forever.

There is an underlying consciousness that permeates and creates with the physical world. There is a unified, undifferentiated field of wholeness that is the root character of existence. We used to know this. Somehow we forgot and it’s been hurting us for a long time.

2. Soul Sovereignty

You are Soul Sovereign and you have Soul Sovereignty to be as you are in this world. You are free to be and live your world into existence in whatever way brings you peace and joy.

Remember the Magic of Being. Return to the Roots of Your Belonging to this World.

You are a unique, never existed before and will never exist again, externalization of Spirit in the World of Form. This time of you in the world is the only time this will ever happen, exactly in this way. We may reincarnate, we may live again - but it won’t be what is right now. It will be different. This moment of you in the world will never exist again.

I believe 100% in the primacy of your Soul Sovereignty.

  • You have a personal and particular relationship with the Universe. Only you can share the soul-experience of your living in world.

I believe in your personal and particular relationship with Land + Spirit. I believe in your agency and ability to be who you are and live your life in the highest vision of Being and Belonging in the world. I know that very few of us do that fully. It takes enormous courage.

It takes courage and trust and love and resilience to learn who you are and be that in the world in the face of resistance and rejection. That’s also the whole point of life.

The point is not to amass wealth or fame or status. (You can if you want - that’s how sovereignty works - but it probably won’t ultimately feel good or nourishing). The point is to practice expressing your personal and particular Soul Sovereignty into the world as best as you can - and be in relationship to other Soul Sovereign expressions of Self and be willing to learn about areas where we still need love and trust to lead us.

You have Soul Sovereignty - you decide what this world means to you.

Things happen. We live in a world being co-created by all the Beings in existence - there’s a lot of fear and fuckery going on. You are still sovereign over your perception of your world - regardless of what others are doing or believing or creating. You are required to root and embody your particular Soul Sovereignty in your world.

Neither agreement or permission is required.

(Except your own.)

Personal, particular you has never been before, and you will never be like this again.

You are a miracle and a wonder.

It is an intense climactic joy and a crushing grief that we will be here for such a short time. Every being that exists or has ever existed or will ever exist in the future is the exact same mixture of short-lived joy + grief. Together we make up this Universe; Land + Spirit woven and sewn together forever.

You have Soul Sovereignty to decide for yourself how to make this life good for you. You’re here to make this life good for you. Make it good for you.

Practice your Witch Wisdom.

The Library has tools and resources for you to Practice Witch Wisdom in the World.

Mno Bmaadzwin. The Good Life. Make it Mno Bmaadzwin.

Making life good for you is not selfish. If taking and grabbing from others and hoarding all the resources for ourselves is what we need to make our life good, we don’t understand good and we don’t understand Soul Sovereignty and we don’t understand Life.

  • We got it twisted.

We were never supposed to care for others by distorting our own sovereign joy. Find in your life where you can help in ways that nourish and feed your personal and particular self.

Your self-actualization is to everyone’s benefit.

Your expression of Soul Self in the world is for everyone’s joy and benefit. Your Being gives permission for everyone you meet to be exactly who they are.

Mno Bmaadzwin is the good life.

It is the Anishinaabe understanding that we’re all striving for the good life together. Fed, clothed, housed, healthy, loved, creative, learning, passionate, engaged, curious, growing, in relationship with Land + Spirit. The Good Life. Not just for ourselves, but everyone in community together. Everyone. All Beings, not just human. The Good life is for every being that exists.

3.  Braiding Roots

Radical ReEnchantment is happening for me on Turtle Island, Mishiike Minisi. Braiding Roots is the ReEnchantment of myself and my Ancestors coming into relationship with the Land and the People of Turtle Island.

Everything I learn here is through the field of Turtle Island. Everything I create here is through the field of Turtle Island. Everything I am and will become is rooted in Turtle Island.

I belong to this Land. Is e an tìr mo chridhe. Aki ayaa inde’. The Land is my heart.

This is heart-based kinship relationship with Land. I love the Land and the Land loves me in return.

ReEnchantment includes the Land of our Ancestors and our adopted homelands. We are Braiding Roots together to create Belonging to Place.

I just realized that both sides of my family have 5 children - 4 girls and 1 “golden boy”. (Seriously, the boys were favoured on both sides of the family.)

Roots + Ancestors

Our Ancestors were colonized, traumatized and then fled their Indigenous homelands. They took up life on new lands without grieving or healing or processing. They took their trauma with them and then became the oppressors on their new homelands.

Our Ancestors internalized the messages of supremacy and hierarchy and separation of their colonizers. Shame closed our hearts to this new land, and closed our hearts to the to the People of this Land.

Ancestral healing and reconnection to our land-based Indigenous culture and practice is re-rooting us in our adopted homelands and opening the pathway to Belonging to this Place

We are healing our hearts to love this Land and love the People of this Land.

Summer’s End

I am writing this in the time of Samhain/Samhuinn, which according to Scott Richardson of Cailleachs-Herbarium is roughly translated to Summer’s End.

This is a time of grief and good-bye.

The harvest is coming in on my small bit of Land. I am grateful for the squash and the peppers and the last of the tomatoes and cucumbers. I am grateful for the sage who will open ceremonies with me for the coming winter… and there is grief.

I planted these friends from seed. I watched them sprout with joy. I am glad that I never seem to tire of the excitement of fresh green sprouts from dark soil. I know that the dark of the soil is the time we are entering. I know that my plant friends are returning to the night. I know that the night and the dark is the beginning and that everything will be reborn. I know that, and I am still sad.

The compost of our Soul requires the grief of good-bye.

We cannot skip the grief and live forever in the abundance of summer. It’s not possible and it’s not balanced. We cannot expect to live a life free from grief. My Elders have taught me that grief is proof of love. We try to close our hearts to Land because we don’t want to grieve the Summer’s End.

Words are Magic.

Our Celtic Ancestors knew that speaking words in the world made the world real. Connect to your Ancestors through our Indigenous languages of Ceremony (making sacred).

Our sorrow is proof of care.

Samhain is recognizing grief and inviting the dead fully into our lives - to continue in relationship with us, even after they return to the field of consciousness.

We are opening the heart and building the bridge with the Unseen. Radical ReEnchantment is honouring all the Ways of Being; the joy and the grief of a life lived in wholeness.
