Towards Radical ReEnchantment
There are “tooltip” pop-ups with further ‘thoughts + asides’ (and sometimes snarky quips) throughout the blog that only work on desktop. I am trying to find code that will make them work on mobile - but so far, no joy.
We’re in a paradigm shift from materialism to consciousness-based reality. It’s Radical ReEnchantment.
The social image of a “radical” is someone toting a gun and/or doing ‘crazy’ things to bring awareness to their "‘fringe’ belief. lol.
Radical just means root.
Literally root.
A radical shift means that we are not just trimming a bit off the sides or grafting to change this branch, or that branch, while we let the rest of the structure continue as is. We are focused on healing from the source of infection. Right from the root. We want completely different fruit than what we’ve been getting.
Seeing the world rooted in consciousness, eliminates any acceptance of ideologies like hierarchies and oppression. Consciousness-based reality makes those choices anathema to the world view of united wholeness.
Consciousness-based reality requires a greater trust in the whole; a trust that people, places and things are doing fine exactly as they are. That unless they need and ask for help, others don’t require our intervention - even when their choices give us uncomfortable feelings.
Consciousness-based reality wants more freedom and sovereignty for all - not just those that we agree with. ( Providing your freedom doesn’t impinge on the freedom of others to enjoy life as they see fit.)
See how easy all of that is? Mind your business and feel your feelings. It’s no one else’s job to make you comfortable.
All thriving is mutual thriving.
Reductionist science has long posited that material creates consciousness; the ever-increasing intricacies of material life give rise to the great Self-Awareness of Being.
Which lends itself nicely to human beings sitting atop the consciousness pyramid while all other beings are scattered about underneath our great big brains.
A unifying consciousness underpinning the material world has been rejected by materialist science. Not because it’s not real or possible or provable; it is, and has been proven.
Science and academia are a business. There is profit to be made and any claims impacting profit are rejected. Science is not done for the benefit of humankind - corporations have made sure of that.
It is rejected because the premise conflicts with the existing, accepted material world view of the universe. Consciousness based reality would also explain all kinds of “unexplainable” psy phenomenom like remote viewing and mediumship abilities. Those in the business of power and control over what is permitted to be “real” for the last 500 years, are loath to release their dominance or entertain the possibility that there may be more going on here than previously accepted.
Re-Rooting for Health and Well-Being
Consciousness-based reality explains why being disconnected from Land, Roots and Ancestors is so devastating to our health and well-being. Land + Spirit are Fite Fuaite and to be disconnected from Land or Spirit is to be disconnected from the other.
Turtle Island is filled with immigrants.
Unless you’re Indigenous to this Land, you’re an immigrant. There has never been the necessary and thorough rooting process engaged in by settlers to Belong to this Land. My Ancestors were immigrants to Turtle Island and they came here to escape hard times in the hopes that they could build something better. Despite being here for 200 years - my Ancestors are not rooted in relationship to Land.
Two Times Colonized
My Ancestors were colonized twice on their Indigenous homelands; once by Christianity, the second by Imperial Capitalism. Christianity disconnected us from our sacred Spiritual relationship to Land. Imperial Capitalism stole the land from the people and destroyed the socio-economic and cultural structures of clan life based in communal caring for Land and People.
My Ancestors were betrayed by leaders who destroyed the fabric of life and reality that the people had known in their bones and lived in the world since time immemorial. The Chiefs chose personal gain and profit over the Land and the People to whom they were accountable.
The people of the land were shamed and exploited and pushed off the land into poverty. The Chiefs and Landlords encouraged immigration and would often organize and even pay for the people to leave for the Americas, Australia and other Imperial colonies. Immigrants from Western Europe fled oppression, poverty, genocide, famine and persecution to Turtle Island.
There was no processing the trauma of the pain, loss and shame of their own colonization and uprooting from Indigenous Lands. There was no processing the loss of tribal identity; cultural, spiritual and Land-based Indigenous identity. There was an uprooting - a brutal, often violent cut off from Indigenous Lands and ways, to a pseudo-rooting on Turtle Island and other colonies.
I say pseudo, because there was no honouring of this Land and the People of this Land. There was no Braiding Roots of relationship with two equal Land-based peoples. There was White Supremacy. There was Christianity and there was Imperial Capitalist colonization.
Census listings for my Great-Grandparents. “Whiteness” was representing in America.
Immigrants from Western Europe to the Imperial Colonies (or their children, born on these Lands), identified with “Whiteness” and lost connection to our original land-based roots. They identified with “White” for economic and social status and as a way to align with the dominant force to become “safe”.
Now we are re-connecting to real roots. These are land-based roots; a land-based spiritual culture that heals the disconnection delivered by a “white” colonial societal structure, that doesn’t feed us.
The Pretendian Epidemic
It must have felt exhilarating to be part of the dominant group and wield power, authority and abundance… too bad we were racist af and thought we had to oppress the Indigenous peoples of this Land to be “safe”.

There is a deeply needful and unconscious drive in “white” settlers for rooting on these Lands. It's why there is such an epidemic of White “Pretendians” who adopt false Indigenous identity instead of doing the actual real work of reconnecting to and healing European roots.
“Shamans” and “Native Spirituality” are dangerous for “white people” to connect and identify with. Until we heal our own roots and connection to our own ancestors, putting on “native spirituality” will only ever be an appropriation of culture and belief.
Engaging with spiritual cultures and practices outside of our own is beautiful and enriching; when we do it from our own ground and spiritual foundation; honouring and respecting one another as equals. We are braiding roots - healing and reconnecting European roots to braid Being and Belonging with ancient Indigenous knowledge and relationship on our adopted homelands.
Europeans were victims of colonization and then our Ancestors came to Turtle Island and participated in colonization as settlers. Healing roots is complicated and painful - but it is required for wholeness.
Celtic Ancestor ReConnecting

Three years ago I completed 4 Seasons of Reconciliation. Dr. Willie Ermine said we should heal our roots and reconnect to our own culture and language.
So I did.
This time also corresponded with spiritual healing education + soul actualization undertaken with ICU. In ICU there is a lot of family systems theory, genograms and family of origin healing going on. It was the right time for root re-connection.
I began reading and researching my own Indigenous culture. Like 70 million Celtic diaspora peoples scattered around the globe, I am of Scottish, Irish and English descent.
Unlike our Ancestors, we belong to Turtle Island and this Land has been calling us to come into relationship with Them for hundreds of years. Becoming a good Celtic Ancestor requires us to Braid Roots with THIS Land and the People of this Land - but I’ll talk more about that later.
Pre-Christian Celtic myth speaks to my Indigeneity. It calls to my wild Land-based Soul and invites me into Anamchara relationship with my Ancestors, our history and our lost language.
I have encountered a general confusion from “white” people in response to my learning Irish and Gaelic. They don’t really understand the value or reason behind it. Maybe I’ll get better at explaining that I am learning to speak my Ancestors into the world to be present with me right here and now.
Our ancestral languages are a spiritual bridge to invite Ancestors into Presence with us on this Land. The Irish have long known that their language is magick. I’m purposefully bringing that magick to Braid Roots on Turtle Island.
There are Irish and Gaelic words and phrases that deeply impact me emotionally and spiritually when I speak them into the world. I have no doubt that I am casting spells of manifestation. This is what language does and speaking in my Ancestral tongue calls in power and lineage that goes back to those who are now gods and goddesses. But I’ll talk more about that later.
Diana Beresford Kroger in To Speak for the Trees first introduced me to Irish words that kindled my magickal child back to life.

The root of “enchantment” is “to sing”. Enchantment is being in harmony with the Music of the World.
Magick, Witches and our Ancestral Inheritance
Samhain (Hallowe’en), Magick, Prophecy, Mediumship, Fortune Telling, Talking to the Trees and to the Plants and the Animals… All of this belongs to us.
Saying “this belongs to us” is not to be taken as “it doesn't belong to other people and cultures”. This is my statement of agency and belonging to the Magick denied to my Ancestors through colonization.
This is the land-based spiritual inheritance of Celtic descendants all over the world. These are our Indigenous roots. Truly. It’s in our mythology and our language.

Draoi + Draoidheachd = Magick
The Draoi (Druids) were the spiritual and cultural leaders of the Celts. The Magick of Kinship and communication with the Land was the basis of reality for everyone. Not just for a select few elite or the Druidic class - everyone. EVERYONE.
Magick, Witches, the Otherworld and the Unseen existing with this world, our immortal Spirit that never stops and communicating in kin relationship with the Natural World.
This is homecoming.
Your love for all things spooky and Halloween (Samhain - New Year), and delicious delight in the night and in Witches and Magick is the call of your Soul to reconnect to your Indigenous land-based Celtic roots.
This is what remains of our Ancestral land-based spiritual practice. Follow the cords back into the Magick of your Ancestors speaking through the land.

We are braiding ancient Celtic land-based Magick with the Ancient Indigenous Knowledge of our adopted homelands. This is the rooting and the paradigm shift that is happening.
This is happening.
We are returning to Ancestors and Land + Spirit.
Irish + Gaelic are a Magickal language. Speaking it out in the world brings our Ancestors close. We build the bridge that heals our ancient roots and brings the Seen and Unseen into wholeness. We are returning to the way our Ancestors lived in the world before a colonizing god taught them that heaven was someplace else.

Land + Spirit are woven and sewn together forever.
Spirit is communicating all the time and speaks to all who are willing to hear. The Trees, the Plants, the Animals, Birds, Insects, Water, Wind and Rain carry messages and offer wisdom from the Otherworld that is right here, right now.
Have you ever thought that maybe those in Spirit grieve the birth of a loved one into the physical world because we are so often lost to them for the time we are here?
Our Ancestors lived in a world where a death in this life is a birth in the Otherworld and a death in the otherworld is a birth in this world.
I talk to the “Dead”
Like my cousins today and my Ancestors before me; with talk with Spirit. Today, I am able to do so without fear of religious, legal or social persecution, for the first time in 462 years. Today I can stand in my ground and speak the truth of Spirit in the world. This is part of the paradigm shift to a consciousness-based reality that we are living.
Today I can offer my gifts to those who want to connect with their loved ones who have passed.
This isn’t “special gifts” for “special people”.
This isn’t Hogwarts. There’s no “chosen one”.
Everyone can communciate with Spirit. You can do this yourself - this is not special gifts for special people. It’s not special powers given to a select few. Magick is the result of healing blocks to communication with Spirit. We experience as much or as little Magick as we allow to exist in our life.
Sometimes communicating with certain people is hard to do yourself. I have trouble communicating with my Dad who died 15 years ago. I can feel his presence and he regularly checks in and I know when he’s here; but trying to talk with him in conversation is difficult because I get pulled into the complicated relationship we had when he was alive.
He is not that person anymore - but I am still unravelling the results of our relationship in my own life. It’s complicated. We’re complicated.
Everyone, everyone - is connected to Spirit. We are all immersed in the consciousness of the Universe. I will never stop repeating that truth - but I can talk to your “dead” when you struggle to hear.
