Our belief in binaries as separate and different and apart forever is a deep wound that permeates our psyches and experience of the world.
Belief in binaries is a core wound.
Binaries can be used to control our thought and action by pointing outside ourselves and our group to the ‘enemy’, the source of the ‘problem’. Binaries serve to control the thoughts and action of the people to keep us distracted from our inherit similarities and mutual benefits available when we unite and work together.
The top of the hierarchy separate us into factions and categories and superficial differences to alienate us from one another and from the physical world we inhabit. The same controlling hierarchy ascribes value difference between us and says that the binary is the root of the world and reality instead of the wholeness that underlies and exists before the binary is perceived.
Cut the world into pieces and then claim one piece as the whole pie.
This piece of pie is crumbling.
(…crumbling back into wholeness.)
The First Binary
I used to think patriarchy was the root separation. It’s not.
Patriarchy is a massive result of the first separation… but it’s not the root. The first separation is bigger and more mythological than patriarchy… and far more devastating.
The first binary is the separation between Land + Spirit.
This is the root of all binaries; the belief in not only the separation of Land and Spirit, but the belief in a hierarchy of being - a belief, not in the unified wholeness of all things, but a fragmentation into a hierarchy of power and value.
This is not truth. This is one way of seeing and believing the world into being.

The symbolism of Marduk using the severed body of the goddess Tiamet to create the world, and then creating human beings to serve him and the other gods in exchange for ‘order’ in the world is wildly prophetic to our current crumbling fragmented shit show.
This new belief and power hierarchy was codified in the world through the mythological story of man usurping the power of Creation for himself. Before the story of Marduk slaying Tiamat to become the source of all Life, Creation stories were told of the feminine joining with the Land or the Water or the Heavens. Or there was a sacred joining of male and female together that created all of the world and all the beings in it. There was an inherent inclusion to existence, male and female, land and spirit together.
The separation of Land + Spirit lead to the belief in the supremacy of thought over somatic experience. Creation was birthed through male thought alone (Yahweh) and we were disconnected from our experience of the world here as a unified whole.
Spirit was set elsewhere outside our experience of physical bodies on the physical planet. Spirit was not here, not now. The Presence and Experience of communication and relationship with the Whole was not available to you and me. Spirit communion was later, after, some day, maybe… if you were obedient and ‘good’, if those in power judged you worthy - and there was always a gatekeeper, always someone outside you saying yes, no, not like that, never like that.
The land was simultaneously demoted to dead meat disconnected from the spiritual whole and elevated to a coveted commodity resource available to be exploited for gain and power for a few at the expense of the many.
Sumerians and Akkadians

The Sumerians introduced agriculture. Sumerian agriculture created the first surplus - food stuffs that could be used not just for trade and barter, but for individual gain, power and control over others.
The Akkadians chose war. They built the first Empire through war and Sargon was the first Emperor (the first psychopath in power). They laid the groundwork for all other Empires to come.
Land divorced from Spirit, divorced from wholeness, is a commodity of control.
Sumerian, Akkadian, Babylonian, and Assyrian societies are the cultures that composted the moist peat into which Abrahamic monotheism took root. Dr. Jieng from “Predictive History” suggests that monotheism has facilitated the rise and dominance of money, the individual and the nation-state. (Dr. Jieng claims today’s religion is SCIENCE, but we’ll talk more about that later.)

At the same time the Akkadians made Empire; slavery and control over women’s lives, bodies and agency became codified into Akkadian law.
Not a coincidence.
Judaism, Christianity and Islam all push the ‘seed of Sargon’ further into the belief mythologies of the world. Land + Spirit are fully separate and people are actively taught not to seek a direct relationship with Spirit. In fact globally, the people have been routinely persecuted and punished for seeking a personal and direct relationship with Spirit and the Unseen. (Click to watch the Witch Wound Webinar).
Cultures that maintain direct Spirit + Land relationship practices have been oppressed, colonized and subsequently ridiculed as ‘uncivilized’, savage and backwards. Social shame is used to control speaking our Indigenous languages, performing our Indigenous land-based beliefs and sharing our inherent ability and the ever-present invitation from Land to connect directly to Spirit.
We are taught to trust the religious “authority” to intercede on our behalf to interpret and explain our relationship to Spirit. Through educational control and coercion we are shaken loose from our insistence on direct relationship to Spirit while inhabiting Land.
This is must reading for women. Period. It is a reclamation of our collective history under Western patriarchy.
Women have not ever been permitted to participate in myth creation, myth practice or teaching about Spirit + Land together, until now.
Women have not been allowed or amplified in offering alternative interpretations to our current fractured world belief in binaries. Women are pointing to a greater truth of wholeness.
Women hold the vision of the world that is becoming.
The separation of Land + Spirit is mirrored in the rejection of female participation in the structures of society and formation of reality.
This separation and rejection is coming home to roost. If we need violence to maintain a society, it is not a natural expression of being. Violence supports false hierarchies and illegitimate structures of power and control through fear.
The 3-Headed Cerberus of Suck
Colonization, Christianity and Capitalism are the result of belief in a binary separation and hierarchical valuation afforded to power and access. Erasure of the wholeness of conscious inclusion is the root sickness. Seeing the Binary of opposites as the foundation of reality is the root oopsie that we’re knitting back together.
Abrahamic belief traditions separate land from sea, night from day, this from that, us from them, holy, profane, good, bad, clean, unclean. This is the toxic root seed of separation.
The Western world, Latin and the English language are king at categorizing and separating all things into groups of like and unlike. The whole taxonomy of world biology is an exercise of category fragmentation as opposed to seeing the world as a complex structure of inter-relationships. That was a choice based in the fundamental belief in the material reductionist reality of separation.
Separation and hierarchy is the mythology of the Western world.
It was a symbolic way of perceiving and interpreting the unified field of reality and creating understanding and meaning… but the wholeness got lost. The wholeness became a secondary consideration in the search for the pieces.
Wholeness is the point of everything.

Gwilym Morus-Baird from Celtic Source suggests that the Gaelic creation myth may come through naming the Land. By naming, we are claiming belonging to Land and bringing Land into relationship with human culture.

There is power in fragmenting wholeness and then controlling education and supposed access. There is no power in the people having access to the whole on their own terms, with their own interpretation and perception.
Western world view wants to fragment the whole based on any category - place, gender, appearance, ability, skill… on and on into smaller and smaller fragmentation and separation, dividing and controlling top-down what is accepted as reality.
This reminds me of physicists hell-bent on discovering the smallest particle that makes up the world. The ‘god-particle’. They keep looking and they will keep finding smaller and smaller bits of stuff. Existence is a Koch star that can be “equilateral triangled” into eternity.

The human desire to join
The rise of AI and ChatGPT - especially the human delight in talking with ChatGPT about therapy, philosophy and existence is indicative of our deep human need to communicate with the Unseen wholeness.
So we built machines to do it within the “allowed” context of Western patriarchy: mental, science, math; removed from feeling, removed from connection to body and Earth, removed from heart and spirit.
It’s easier to break things down into parts to examine them more closely. It’s a useful way to see and understand complex systems - but the investigation of parts can never be mistaken for the whole.
“A finger pointing at the moon is not the moon. The finger is needed to know where to look for the moon, but if you mistake the finger for the moon itself, you will never know the real moon.”
Sargon, Abrahamic religion and Science are the framework of belief that create our current reality. It is crumbling because too much has been left behind.
It is time for a change and the change is loving inclusion.
The New Mythology is Tìr agus Anam Fite Fuaite gu Bràth.
Land and Spirit are woven and sewn together forever.
