61. The New Mythology
Nope Brigade talks about how we need a new mythology. We are birthing a new reality - and what are the frameworks to that? I have thoughts.
Join me for The Magic Words Webinar on October 30th at 2pm et.
We're going to talk about the importance of reconnecting to our Indigenous Irish and Gaelic languages and reconnecting to Ancestors, right here, right now.

Nope Brigade (00:12):
Fascism is a genus of political ideology whose mythic core in its various permutations, is a polygenetic form of populist ultra nationalism. The next part is key as to what fascism is offering that the left is not and that is polygenetic. What this means is that in that story of the nation, what the myth that they're offering people is that once we were great, but then we declined for X, Y, Z reasons usually pointing to a specific group. In our case, currently it is undocumented immigrants and it is trans people. What can we do then to get back to the glorious future? We are going to rebirth the nation into a glorious future. We are going to make America great again and this is what the right is offering that the left is not. There is no unifying myth on the left. What we need is a narrative of who we are together, who we are as a nation. And it doesn't have to be a bad narrative. It can be a big expansive, wonderful one.
Lezley (01:26):
I have a mythology for us. I have an idea and it's in three parts because the Celts, they love their threes, tri-chasag and all that. The first is that the mythology must be global. Nope Brigade talks about a national mythology, but there is no mythology that works going forward, that isn't global. And you can have a sense of a national identity based in place, based in geography, but it also has to include relationship within the globe that we're all in relationship with the earth and with one another. And so any mythology, new mythology that we have going forward, especially a recreation mythology or a rebirth mythology, has to include both the nation, the national identity, the individual identity, and then relationship with the whole. So relationship with the globe. The second, which is part of the first, they're all interrelated.
(02:43):
The second is that this is a mythology of "AND" okay, not "or" not "versus" this is a mythology of, and so like the global mythology where you can be an individual or a nation and part of a planetary relationship, a planetary wholeness mythology. The new mythology must be "and", it must include, it must be "and" not "or", it must be inclusive. So that's inclusion on all scales. So personal and universal, land and spirit, science and mysticism, rationality and feelings, men and women, all ethnicities. And this is a mythology of, and it's not "us versus them", it's us "and" them. Jung talks about the tension of opposites and this is what we are required to learn in order to grow as beings in this world of form, as nations, as participants in the world, is to hold binaries in discomfort. So Jung talks about how if you have two opposing choices, neither of which is a whole choice because we have right now with this division of left versus right and freedom versus totalitarianism and love versus fear.
(04:30):
Basically love is always the best choice. But you know what I'm saying. When we have two distinctly opposing choices and choosing one means excluding so much of the other Jung says, don't choose. Hold both. Hold both in the discomfort of allowing binaries to be together. You don't have to choose one or the other. Choices aren't black and white. Hold them both together and there will be an integration in our psyche, in our spirit, in land and spirit where a third option becomes obvious, a third option that integrates the opposites into a greater whole. Our mythologies have to include this holding of binaries together in discomfort. Our new mythology must, must include this idea of courage. Courage to be in discomfort, courage to hold opposites together until a new wholeness is realized. This is nuance, this is full colour, not black and white, the mythology of "AND".
(05:57):
And the third is that there are no exceptions. No one is excluded. This follows through from "and" - there are no exceptions, there are no exclusions. The new mythology must be inclusive. Include all people, even those we disagree with. I'm not saying that authoritarians or totalitarians or fascism, fascisms, fascists are encouraged to lead, but even the hateful, violent, awful people are here and exist and can't be excluded from our mythology. There is no one and no thing and no being that can be excluded from our new mythology of rebirth, of recreation. There are no exceptions and when there are no exceptions, our solutions come from a very different place. I know there are millions of people on the planet right now that hold the vision of what we are birthing into the world. We are birthing a new reality. This is what's happening and a lot of people are scared.
(07:20):
People react to fear in different ways, but at the heart of the totalitarians of the authoritarians, there is deep fear and a lack of safety. I don't know what to do with that. I don't know how to combat that. I know a return of violence and a return of hatred in't going to help that. I know that it's frustrating to deal with people who are so fearful that they would embrace horrific violence to make themselves feel a little bit better. I don't know what to do with that, but I know that they're here too. And they are not an exception to wholeness. They're not an exception to love. They are also included. There are no exceptions to, and there are no exceptions to a global mythology of wholeness and inclusion. So I dunno what to do, but that's the vision that I'm holding. That's the vision that I'm sharing. Other people smarter than me can figure out how to make this happen. But everyone just do your piece right. Do your little piece. Do your part. Feel with the wholeness that is land in spirit, woven, sewn together forever. Stand and speak and share what you are guided to share in that intersection of land and spirit. We are birthing a new world together, so hold your vision, hold your vision and share it as often as you can. Okay, love you. Bye.
