“Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a persistent one.”

~ Albert Einstein

Language is the invisible hand that shapes how we perceive the world. It’s the unconscious air we breathe that forms the reality we see.

In Arabic, a room full of female writers are called katibah ‘female writer’. If even one male joins the room, the whole group becomes male.

“So, when referring to a group of one male writer and 100 female writers, it is ‘male writers’ (kottab), not ‘female writers’ (katibat).”

That is some powerful perception-bending bullshit.

Words mean things.

Even words that change over time still retain the original root of their meaning. How we understand the meaning of words impacts how we perceive the world to be, and as a result - what we even believe is possible in our reality.

Come, lets talk about Truth and Reality.

Click the etymologies below to open them into a lightbox.

  • PIE languages do not have a separate verb for truth telling, like we do for NOT speaking the truth. It’s almost like truth was the expected default communication and lies were an aberration that required it’s own verb. LIAR! Lol.

Firm. Solid. Steadfast.

‘Deru’ is the root of truth and true is the same root for Draoi, Druid in Irish and Gàidhlig.

According to Manchán Magan in “32 Words for Field”, in the earliest forms of Irish, “dru” also implies immersion or total connection.

Truth is when we are in relationship with wholeness. Truth is when we are immersed in and accepting all of what is. Truth is remaining steadfast to total connection and immersion in the wholeness - regardless of what fresh hot horseshit is being offered for dubious rewards.

Truth is recognizing separation is a lie.

“Deru” is the same root for tree. I love that trees have “truth” at their root.

Ancient Watchers, growing to the plan of their own pathway, yet accommodating all things in their way. Trees grow according to truth. Steadfast. Strong. Faithful.

“You will know them by their fruit.” Fruit is faithful to itself. A tree produces in accordance with it’s nature. Trees are true to themselves.

Truth IS, even when no one is watching.

Reality on the other hand, is not what we think.

Reality has the quality of being real. Reality is “objective actual real existence”. Reality used to be called realty - which is a very specific and interesting way of perceiving.

We all think we understand what is real; a thing having physical existence… not imaginary. Not feeling, not emotion, not Spirit; actual

Actually, it’s property, goods and wealth. Realty is the fixed, permanent, ability to be owned and sold for profit. Realty did NOT apply to land held in common. Realty did not apply to DÙTHCHAS.

In the 15th Century, “reality” was called “realty”.

In the 15th century, English land became defined as a commodity; property that could be owned by individuals. THIS WAS NEW. The Enclosure Movement redefined the people’s relationship and connection to land. There were over 5200 enclosure Bills enacted by Parliament to transfer common land into individual pockets. Previously, lands were held in common under ancient laws of Clann and dùthchas.

Until the Enclosures - land could not be owned by an individual person or family. Land obviously and automatically belonged to everyone. It was inconceivable for a single person to lay sole claim and benefit from Land.

It’s not a coincidence that collective perception of reality shifted at the same time the Common Lands were being taken from the Common People and delivered into the hands of the Epstein class (that’s what we’re calling them now. There’s nothing “elite” about a group of people that forsake all others for their own profit).

The Enclosures saw the people disconnected from belonging to land, disconnected from belonging to place, disconnected from the ancient, accepted, natural law of relationship with Land, Being and Belonging. The enclosures saw the world view of land go from being a right of dùthchas - the right of Indigenous belonging, inheritance and the right to Indigenous place into one of “Realty”; land as a commodity for individual profit.

Realty is the perception of things as REAL estate - possessions; the permanent nature of real estate and land - based in profit and ownership. Realty meant things that could be traded and sold for profit. Realty were things that could be owned in a permanent way - by individuals.

We have inherited without question a perception of reality - “real existence” - rooted in the right of the individual to capitalism and commerce. We have accepted a version of existence rooted in the materialism of property, ownership and amassing physical assets; REALTY.

In this version of reality, ONLY physical things are of value - emotion, Spirit, the Unseen, intuition - are NOT real. They are NOT realty. They are not valuable.

They are characteristics of sovereignty that are not able to be used for profit, power and leverage by others.

Do not underestimate the effort needed to discredit + distort your personal, particular, sovereign authority and connection to the power and wisdom available to you beyond the physical...

By those who maintain their power and privilege by encouraging you to believe in your own powerlessness.

The Physical World is only half the Truth.

Objective Reality doesn’t exist. There is no such thing. We are operating under the unquestioned inheritance and persistent belief of materialist scientific objectivism rooted in and held up by the three-headed Cerberus of Christianity, Capitalism and Colonization.

We do not stand outside of the Universe and observe. We are a part of the Universe and can only understand reality in relationship from within the center; where we are fundamental participants in the creation of reality through our own belief and perception.

Our Gaelic Ancestors intimately understood the Self as the Center of the world. They also understood that there were many, many centers. The correspondences of the 9 Dúile is an example of the individual at the center of their own Creation.

I have found the same focus in Celtic Heritage by Alwyn and Brinley Rees. (The Center is really big in Irish cosmology. There are centers within centers in Irish belonging to Place.) There are 9 directions: the four cardinals; north, south, east and west, plus above, below, within, without and moving through. You can only ever stand in the center of your created Universe.

Our Celtic Ancestors understood that you are right smack dab in the middle of the field of being; and you can only perceive from within the center of your own personal and particular experience of existence.

The 9 Dúile I read was compiled by Searles O’Dubhain of The Summerlands using the Carmen Godelica and the Song of Amergin.

Objectivity is a farce of separation. It is a cut off of all the ways of knowing that are beyond the reach of the physical. Healing this cut off is the heart at the centre of all this change we are going through. Understanding the farce of “objective material reality” is the root of Radical ReEnchantment. We are healing the collective betrayal of dùthchas - our Indigenous belonging to Land.

There are many realities.

Consensus reality as we have known it for 500 years is in flux right now. We are shifting the boundaries of what this world is and what it means to be alive. We are healing the collective betrayal of dùthchas and reassembling the Universe into wholeness again.
