Most Truth is Personal, Subjective, Relative and Wonderful

3. Differing Truths

I talked about this quite a bit in "subjective truths" with my friend Edward and I sharing our differing views on polyamory.

Most truths are subjective, personal and relative. We believe strongly in our own truths but they should be open to change if we've got stuff wrong.

The only absolute Truth that exists is the First Truth and it trumps every other truth out there. If my truths deny equality or personhood to another, my truth is false. If my truth makes one group of people more valuable than another, my truth is false.

If my truth is that monogamy works best for me in my life, then that is my truth. If Edwards truth is that polyamory works best for him in his life, than that's his truth - and both those truths can exist at the same time.

We have an easier time accepting truths we disagree with when they don't concern questions of ethics or morality or topics that we hold near and dear.

All truths can exist simultaneously as long as they remain loving and inclusive.

Traditional spiritual paths, especially patriarchal paths, often attempt to control women's bodies, their sexuality and procreation. Most religions have an in-built cultural or societal bias premised on some false belief of oppression and control.

Oppression and control and exclusion don't come from G-d.

Beloved Presence doesn't judge or exclude or control or oppress.

Humans do that.

Humans do that because many aren't ready to accept the First Truth and can only conceive of a world of adversaries.

We're ready now to create a new agreement, a new accord with Beloved Presence, a new covenant based on the First Truth of loving and inclusive.

"Loving and inclusive" automatically eliminates all beliefs and personal truths regarding the relative value of species, class, race, gender, sexual orientation, ability, age... and any other "ism" that attempts to assign hierarchical value to any living thing.

"Better than" and "Us vs. Them" won't ever pass the First Truth of "loving and inclusive".
